Craft mode follows your pattern with you while you bead. It shows the row you're on, the beads that row needs in the order you string them, and every row you've already finished, and it keeps your place for you on every device. This guide shows you how to use it, from your first row to the last.

A Pro feature

Craft mode is part of Beadloo Pro and the free Pro trial. It works with square, peyote (1 to 9 drop) and brick (1 to 3 drop) patterns.

Quick start

Start stitching

Open your pattern
Open any pattern that has beads in it from your dashboard or the Projects page.
Select the Craft tab
It's next to Design, at the top of the editor. The pattern locks while you craft, so nothing can change it by accident.
Stitch the outlined row
Its beads are listed right under it, in the order you string them.
Select Next when the row is done
The row is ticked off and the next one moves into view. Select Previous to go back.

The basics

Reading the row you're on

The outline marks the row you're stitching now. Its number stands out in the column of row numbers on the left.
Check marks sit on every bead of the rows you've finished.
Dimmed rows are the ones still to come, so your eye stays on the row that matters.
The progress in the status bar at the bottom shows how much of the pattern is stitched, counted in beads.

A row in Craft mode is exactly a row of your PDF word chart. In peyote, rows 1 and 2 are stitched together, just as the chart lists them, and every later row is one pass of your needle. Rows with no beads in them are skipped.

Using the word chart

Under the row you're on, each run of one color is shown as a badge: how many beads, the bead color and its number. The badges read in the order you string them, and the arrows show which way the row is worked.

Mark your place in a long row: select a badge, and it stays highlighted until you finish the row.
Need more room? Fold the word chart away with the tab at its corner, and select the tab again to bring it back.

When you continue from a row you pick by its number, the rows before it count as stitched and the rest as still to do. Your pattern itself is never changed.

Use a foot pedal

A Bluetooth page-turner pedal, the kind musicians use to turn sheet music, lets you step through rows without putting your needle down. Pair it with your computer or tablet like any keyboard: most pedals send Page Down and Page Up, which Craft mode already understands. Holding the pedal down still moves just one row, and while a message is open on screen the keys wait until you answer it.

Settings

Setting up the view

The Craft tool bar on the right of the editor holds your settings. Beadloo remembers them on this device, for all your patterns.

Zoom: closest, middle or widest
How many rows you see around the one you're on.
Enlarge the active row
Draws your row a little bigger. Not available for peyote, whose rows sit between each other's beads.
Word chart under the row
Show or hide the badges.
Dim upcoming rows
Light, medium or strong.
Highlight color
Amber, cyan or magenta, whichever shows up best on your beads.
Focus view
Fills the screen with your pattern. Select it again to leave.
Keep screen awake
Stops the screen from going dark while you work. A few browsers can't do this, and the button says so.
Reset progress
The red button at the bottom. It asks before clearing your finished rows.

Phones

Crafting on a phone

On a phone, Craft mode fits the whole row across the screen. The bottom of the screen shows the row number, the progress, the row's badges, and a bar of buttons with the same settings as the tool bar.

Tap the arrows beside the row to go to the next or previous row.
Move and zoom the pattern with your fingers. The fit button, first in the bar, brings the row back into view.
Tap a badge to see its bead number.

Changes

If you change the pattern

You can switch back to Design whenever you like. If you change a pattern after you've started stitching it, Craft mode notices the next time you open it:

Your progress

Your place is always saved

Craft mode saves your place to your account after every step, so you can stop on your laptop and carry on from your tablet or phone. If you're offline, your progress is kept on the device, a small note tells you it hasn't been saved to your account yet, and it's sent as soon as you're back online.

Your dashboard shows the Craft progress of your latest project, with a Continue crafting link that opens it right where you stopped. On the Projects page, a thin bar along the foot of each card shows how far that pattern has got.

Your pattern stays exactly as it is

Crafting never changes your pattern. Its beads, colors, PDF, bead counts and undo history are the same whether or not you've started stitching.
